Up to Speed (Twitter, webcomic, future animation work)

Posted by BitterMause - November 15th, 2021

Wow, it's been a minute since I updated here, hasn't it?

There's been quite a bit of dead air since I last posted, and I mentioned that I would be working on new animated short material to post this year. Sadly, due to lack of time and motivation on par with my main job, I haven't hit the goals I wanted this year. The best I've done on the personal front is loose storyboards for a sequel to a prior short, and some practice bits with Toon Boom. I've also been going through a creative slog these days, now trying to figure out what direction I really want to take with my work. It's going to be a frustrating pain in the ass personal journey, but it's a necessary one.

On July I deleted my main Twitter account. I'm a big fan of having my mental sanity in tact, and Twitter is the antithesis to it, so I got tired of my twitter feed getting dog-piled with toxicity and drama. I also no longer saw it as a means of promoting my work since I take a lot of time to produce one project, and most of the time that goes under the radar in favor of the algorithm. I still have a PillowFort account for all other art and animations not on this site. I'll have the links updated in my bio.

While I haven't announced this on the official site or mirror platforms, once I can finish the current chapter of my webcomic, I will no longer be working on it. I'll get more in depth on this when the time comes, but the abridged reasoning is that my heart is not really into it anymore and the direction has been lost for some time.

With one ongoing project coming to a close, this means I've allowed myself more time to explore other personal creative endeavors, which includes making time for animated collaborations and becoming more active around here.

This was a very slow year for new material, which I hope to remedy going into 2022.

Until then, y'all have a good rest of your year and stay safe out there!

Man It's a shame there won't be more of The Shufflers, but it is what it is.
That may feel like a huge weight of your shoulders, so good luck with your new creative endeavors.

Thank you! It really wasn't an easy decision to make, but it's for the best. I can say with some certainty that there is still a chance I may pick it up again, but only if I can fix some prior issues with how I'm currently telling the overarching story so far. Until then, I'll be slowly chipping away at some notes for a more streamlined project I've had in the back of my brain for ages. I'm so glad I got to meet you through this project, so I hope you'll stick around for the new stuff, too!

@BitterMause I will for sure
